Drones are now patrolling Kaziranga National Park, providing forest teams with a vital aerial view to protect its over 2,600 one-horned rhinos. Since 2017, these UAVs have helped monitor the vast terrain, track animals during floods, and detect potential fires with thermal sensors. This technology aids in preventing poaching, which saw 27 rhinos killed annually at its peak in 2013-2014, and helps manage wildlife straying into nearby villages, enhancing ranger response times and effectiveness.
