Couple Transforms Barren Island Into Home Over 17

An Australian couple, Ralph and Caralyn Mansfield, purchased a 26-hectare barren island in Little Swanport, Tasmania, in 2002. For 17 years, they worked to clear the gorse-covered land and transport building materials. After moving 38 truckloads of supplies, they finally moved into their newly built home on Ram Island in 2019. The project involved extensive clearing and logistical challenges, including building a landing barge.
