Copper Producers Seek GST Cut Amid Record Prices

Indian copper producers are urging the government to reduce the Goods and Services Tax on copper to 5% from 18%. Record high metal prices are tying up significant working capital across the supply chain, impacting primary producers and downstream manufacturers. Rohit Pathak, President of the Indian Primary Copper Producers Association, stated this policy change could unlock approximately $3.6 billion of capital.
