North Korea launched multiple ballistic missiles into the sea on Monday morning, according to South Korea's military. One missile traveled over 900 kilometers before falling into the water. This marks North Korea's fourth missile launch in October and follows South Korea's successful test of a new hypersonic missile. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff described the launch as a "show of force" and an intentional demonstration of missile capabilities. Tensions have been rising due to a recent landmine explosion near the demilitarized zone.
