India is rolling out a next-generation GST to foster economic growth and make compliance easier for businesses of all sizes. Introduced in 2017, the GST framework has been updated based on nine years of implementation experience. The reforms, effective, aim to reduce and rationalize tax rates, providing relief to households and greater certainty for businesses. Gross GST collections from April to September 2026 reached Rs 12.46 lakh crore, an 11.6% increase year-on-year, demonstrating growth alongside taxpayer relief.
