Couple Transforms Barren Land Into Thriving Homestay

The Better India · lifestyle

A couple, Major Durga Das and Jyoti Jasol, transformed 2.5 acres of barren land in Udaipur's Aravalli hills into a successful heritage homestay called Devra. Initially facing challenges with the cactus-ridden soil, they persevered after a failed flower business. Jyoti returned to Udaipur in 1999, working with local craftspeople to build the homestay, which welcomed guests in 2004. The land now flourishes with crops and fruits, providing food for the 10-bedroom establishment.
