France24 World · world

Youth activists and supporters of the Yellow Vest movement joined a nationwide demonstration in France on October 17. The protests were fuelled by weeks of student demonstrations concerning poor school conditions and growing anger over the rising cost of living. Analysts suggest that the protesters demonstrating against the cost of living did not achieve their desired outcomes. The core grievance driving the demonstrations was the increasing expense of daily life for citizens.
