Congress Accuses CEC of Law Violation Over Form

The Congress has accused Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of violating the law and constitutional practices by unilaterally changing Form 6. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh stated that a new mandatory section was added, creating a barrier for first-time Gen Z voters. Ramesh pointed out that the ECI does not have the power to amend Form 6, as this power rests with the Union Government. The Congress urged the Supreme Court to take suo motu cognisance and hold the CEC accountable for his actions.

कांग्रेस ने मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त (CEC) ज्ञान प्रकाश कुमार पर फॉर्म 6 में एकतरफा बदलाव करके कानून और संवैधानिक प्रक्रियाओं का उल्लंघन करने का आरोप लगाया है। कांग्रेस महासचिव जयराम रमेश ने कहा कि पहली बार वोट देने वाले युवा मतदाताओं के लिए एक नई अनिवार्य शर्त जोड़ दी गई है। रमेश ने बताया कि फॉर्म 6 में बदलाव का अधिकार चुनाव आयोग (ECI) के पास नहीं, बल्कि केंद्र सरकार के पास है। कांग्रेस ने सुप्रीम कोर्ट से इस मामले का स्वतः संज्ञान लेने और CEC को जवाबदेह ठहराने की मांग की है।
