10 Held For Kidnapping, Extortion Racket

Davanagere police have arrested 10 individuals, many of whom were engineering dropouts, for allegedly operating an extortion racket. The gang targeted affluent youths and those involved in financial transactions, using the guise of currency exchange to lure victims. They would then kidnap, threaten, and demand money. The arrests followed the kidnapping of a 26-year-old cloth merchant, who was rescued after being assaulted and forced to arrange Rs 10 lakh. Police are investigating further involvement in similar crimes.
