Mera Yuva Bharat Co-ordinator Accused of Collecting Students' Caste Details in Ooty

A complaint has been filed against the co-ordinator of the Nilgiris district’s Mera Yuva Bharat initiative for allegedly collecting students' caste details during a blood donation camp. The Government Arts College in Udhagamandalam reported that while an initial register was provided by the medical college, the co-ordinator distributed a separate form. This form reportedly asked donors to specify their SC/ST/OBC or general category background. Students objected to this collection of caste information, with some documenting the process. The college urged police action against the co-ordinator.

नीलगिरि जिले की मेरा युवा भारत पहल के समन्वयक के खिलाफ एक रक्त दान शिविर के दौरान कथित तौर पर छात्रों का जाति विवरण एकत्र करने के लिए शिकायत दर्ज की गई है। उधगमंडलम के सरकारी कला महाविद्यालय ने बताया कि मेडिकल कॉलेज द्वारा एक प्रारंभिक रजिस्टर प्रदान किया गया था, लेकिन समन्वयक ने एक अलग फॉर्म वितरित किया। इस फॉर्म में कथित तौर पर दाताओं से उनकी एससी/एसटी/ओबीसी या सामान्य श्रेणी की पृष्ठभूमि बताने के लिए कहा गया था। छात्रों ने जाति की जानकारी एकत्र करने पर आपत्ति जताई, कुछ ने इस प्रक्रिया का दस्तावेजीकरण भी किया। कॉलेज ने समन्वयक के खिलाफ पुलिस कार्रवाई का आग्रह किया है।
