Essential Commodity Prices Surge; Onion Rates Jump Almost 113% in a Year

Retail prices for 41 out of 42 essential commodities have increased over the past year, with potatoes being the sole exception. Onion prices have seen the most dramatic rise, surging by nearly 113%, followed by sugar at approximately 22% and sunflower oil at around 18%. This surge in food prices is a significant contributor to retail inflation, which reached a nearly two-year high of 5.5% in September.
