Mehli Mistry Asks Charity Commissioner To Rule On Tata Trusts Directors' Earnings

Former trustee Mehli Mistry has urged the Maharashtra Charity Commissioner to decide if commissions earned by Tata Trusts-nominated directors on the Tata Sons board should be remitted to the trusts. Mistry argues these directors hold positions solely due to the trusts' shareholding and act in a fiduciary capacity. He cited practices in public sector bodies where representatives cannot retain personal financial incentives. Tata Trusts, owning 52% of Tata Sons, nominate directors like Noel Tata and Venu Srinivasan, who received significant commissions in FY2026.
