Maharashtra Aims to Halve Anaemia by 2030 With New Campaign
Times of India · health
Maharashtra's government is launching an 'Anaemia-Free Maharashtra' campaign to reduce the condition's prevalence by 50% among women of reproductive age and adolescents by 2030. Currently, 54% of women and 57% of adolescents suffer from anaemia, with some tribal districts showing over 67% prevalence. The campaign will focus on screening, treatment, nutrition awareness, and regular follow-ups for children, adolescents, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. Iron deficiency is a primary cause, alongside vitamin deficiencies and inherited blood disorders.
