Tamil Nadu is preparing for byelections in the Madurantakam and Dharapuram Assembly constituencies on October 6, 2026. These contests were triggered by the resignations of former AIADMK MLAs Maragatham Kumaravel and P. Sathyabama, who subsequently joined the ruling TVK party. Both reserved constituencies are set for a five-cornered battle involving DMK, AIADMK, NTK, Left Front, and TVK. Counting of votes will take place on October 9. The byelections mark the first time these reserved seats are going to polls.

तमिलनाडु में मदुरंथकम और धरपुरम विधानसभा सीटों पर 6 अक्टूबर 2026 को उपचुनाव होने वाले हैं। ये मुकाबले पूर्व AIADMK विधायकों, जो बाद में सत्ताधारी TVK पार्टी में शामिल हो गए, मारगथम कुमारवेल और पी. सत्याभामा के इस्तीफे के कारण हुए हैं। दोनों आरक्षित सीटों पर DMK, AIADMK, NTK, लेफ्ट फ्रंट और TVK के बीच पांच-कोने वाली लड़ाई होने वाली है। वोटों की गिनती 9 अक्टूबर को होगी। उपचुनाव इन आरक्षित सीटों पर पहली बार मतदान का प्रतीक हैं।
