The Supreme Court has reserved its order on implementing front-of-pack warning labels for packaged food products. A bench of Justices J.B. Pardiwala and K. Vinod Chandran urged the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to implement the final directions in their true spirit and within the prescribed timeline. The court heard arguments on various aspects, including added sugar, nutrient thresholds, and implementation timelines. The FSSAI has proposed a single-phase system with a red hexagon warning for products exceeding nutrient limits.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने पैक्ड फूड प्रोडक्ट्स पर फ्रंट-ऑफ-पैक वार्निंग लेबल लागू करने पर अपना फैसला सुरक्षित रख लिया है। जस्टिस जे.बी. पारदीवाला और के. विनोद चंद्रन की बेंच ने भारतीय खाद्य सुरक्षा और मानक प्राधिकरण (FSSAI) से कहा कि वे अंतिम निर्देशों को उनकी सच्ची भावना से और तय समय सीमा के अंदर लागू करें। कोर्ट ने एडेड शुगर, न्यूट्रिएंट थ्रेशोल्ड और लागू करने की समय सीमा जैसे विभिन्न पहलुओं पर दलीलें सुनीं। FSSAI ने न्यूट्रिएंट लिमिट से ज़्यादा वाले प्रोडक्ट्स के लिए लाल हेक्सागन वार्निंग के साथ सिंगल-फेज सिस्टम का प्रस्ताव दिया है।
