AI Claude Discovers New CRISPR-Like Enzyme System

AI giant Anthropic announced its model Claude has autonomously discovered a new enzyme system in bacterial DNA. Researchers at Anthropic's San Francisco lab prompted Claude to search a DNA database for 21 hours, leading to the identification of a system with characteristics similar to CRISPR. While the function of this molecular machine is yet to be determined, it could potentially represent a new gene editing mechanism.
