Prime Minister Narendra Modi has placed agriculture and farmer welfare at the core of India's development agenda since 2014, driving a transformation towards a productive, resilient, and technology-driven sector. Building on past achievements like the Green Revolution, the focus has shifted to meeting evolving consumer demands and climate challenges. Recent years have seen increased food grain production through better coordination, climate-resilient technologies, and farmer support, diversifying beyond cereals to horticulture and dairy. The objective is now to produce more with fewer resources, emphasizing nutrition security and high-value commodities.
