Coimbatore Halts Boating After Court Order

The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation has stopped boating activities at Ukkadam Periyakulam following a Madras high court directive. The court criticized the civic body for using petrol-engine motorised boats, which were previously prohibited. Authorities have been ordered to cease all motorised boat operations immediately and switch to pedal boats only. This decision comes after a report highlighted the ecological importance of Ukkadam lake and the threat to 183 bird species from vehicular disturbances. The court emphasized the adverse impact of motorised boats on aquatic life and the lake's ecological significance.

कोयंबटूर में अदालत के आदेश पर नौकायन पर रोक

कोयंबटूर नगर निगम ने मद्रास हाईकोर्ट के आदेश के बाद उक्कड़म पेरियाकुलम में नौका विहार बंद कर दिया है। कोर्ट ने पेट्रोल इंजन वाली मोटरबोट के इस्तेमाल पर निगम की आलोचना की, जिसे पहले मना किया गया था। अब सिर्फ पैडल बोट चलाने का आदेश है। यह फैसला उक्कड़म झील के पारिस्थितिक महत्व और 183 पक्षी प्रजातियों पर मोटरबोट से होने वाले खतरे की रिपोर्ट के बाद आया है।
