Women to Contest 50% of Zilla & Taluk Panchayat Seats in Belagavi

The Karnataka government has issued a reservation notification for upcoming Zilla Panchayat (ZP) and Taluk Panchayat (TP) elections in Belagavi district, reserving 50% of seats for women. Out of 90 ZP constituencies, 45 are reserved for women, and 154 of 301 TP constituencies across 15 taluks are also reserved for women. This move is expected to significantly boost women's representation in local self-governance bodies. Specific reservations have also been allocated for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes, with a substantial portion designated for women within these categories.

कर्नाटक सरकार ने बेळगावी ज़िले में आगामी ज़िला पंचायत (ZP) और तालुका पंचायत (TP) चुनावों के लिए आरक्षण की अधिसूचना जारी की है, जिसमें महिलाओं के लिए 50% सीटें आरक्षित की गई हैं। 90 ZP निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों में से 45 महिलाओं के लिए आरक्षित हैं, और 15 तालुकों में फैले 301 TP निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों में से 154 भी महिलाओं के लिए आरक्षित हैं। इस कदम से स्थानीय स्वशासन निकायों में महिलाओं के प्रतिनिधित्व में काफी वृद्धि होने की उम्मीद है। अनुसूचित जातियों, अनुसूचित जनजातियों और अन्य पिछड़ा वर्ग के लिए भी विशिष्ट आरक्षण आवंटित किए गए हैं, जिनमें इन श्रेणियों के भीतर महिलाओं के लिए एक बड़ा हिस्सा नामित किया गया है।
